Bilingual AI Chatbot and Mobile Robot

The Life Events Robot project delivers an advanced AI-powered virtual assistant designed to support Maltese citizens with crucial life events such as marriage registration, birth registration, and divorce procedures. Developed for Social Security Malta, the solution leverages a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) model integrated with the ChatGPT API to provide accurate, relevant, and up-to-date information tailored to Maltese legal and procedural frameworks.

Initially launched as a bilingual chatbot on the official Social Security website, the assistant supports both text and voice interactions with real-time transcription and text-to-speech features. The next stage involves deploying the same intelligent AI system into a Temi V3 mobile robot, capable of navigating public spaces and offering personalized, AI-driven customer service. This innovative approach enhances public sector digital transformation, improving the accessibility and efficiency of government services.

By leveraging a curated knowledge base of life event procedures and integrating the advanced ChatGPT large language model, the assistant provides natural, conversational interactions that simplify complex legal and procedural topics. The implementation of speech-to-text and text-to-speech technologies enables seamless voice-enabled AI assistance, improving accessibility for users with disabilities or those preferring voice communication. Additionally, deploying the AI solution on the Temi V3 autonomous mobile robot creates an omnichannel support experience, bridging the gap between online chatbot servicesand physical, on-site AI assistance. This innovative approach not only boosts public sector digital transformation but also ensures inclusive, efficient, and user-friendly access to essential life event information for all Maltese citizens.
